YubiOn Portal Now Supports Microsoft Entra ID, Delivering Strong Two‑Factor Authentication for Cloud‑Native Windows Logon

January 20, 2026

To Members of the Press

SoftGiken Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Norio Fujita, established in 1983), provider of the authentication security solution YubiOn, announces that as of January 14, 2026, its PC logon control solution YubiOn Portal (version 3.0.0.1), which enhances Windows logon security, now supports logon using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) accounts.

With this update, in addition to traditional local accounts, Active Directory (AD) accounts, and Microsoft accounts, organizations using Entra ID—a cloud‑based identity management service—can also implement robust two‑factor authentication (2FA) using one‑time passwords (OTP) via YubiKey or ATKey.

Background of the Development

In recent years, corporate IT infrastructure has been rapidly shifting from on‑premises Active Directory to cloud‑native Microsoft Entra ID. However, for Windows PC logon, many organizations still rely solely on ID and password authentication, leaving them vulnerable to phishing attacks, password list attacks, and other forms of unauthorized access.

Until now, YubiOn Portal has supported the security of many companies operating in local or Active Directory environments by providing secure and simple one‑time password (OTP) authentication using physical devices. By adding support for Entra ID accounts—something requested by many of our users—we are now able to offer more secure endpoint management tailored to today’s business environment, where remote work and hybrid work have become the norm.

Key Features of This Update (v3.0.0.1)

1. Full Support for Microsoft Entra ID Accounts

On PCs joined to Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), organizations can enforce OTP authentication using YubiKey or ATKey at Windows logon. This significantly enhances the security level for organizations leveraging cloud‑based identities.

2. Robust Authentication for Entra ID Environments, Unaffected by Network Conditions

Since YubiKey and ATKey utilize OTP functionality, there is no need to wait for complex push notifications during authentication. This allows for stable, reliable two‑factor authentication—even with the flexibility to support offline scenarios.

3. Unified Protection for Multiple Windows Account Types

With this update, YubiKey and similar devices can now secure all of the following Windows account types:

  • Microsoft Entra ID Accounts (NEW)

  • Active Directory Accounts

  • Microsoft Accounts

  • Local Accounts

4. Leverage Existing YubiKey Assets Without Additional Investment

You can continue using your existing YubiKey devices (such as the YubiKey 5 Series) without any changes. This allows you to strengthen authentication for modern cloud environments while keeping additional hardware investment to a minimum.
